The MiiCNY Mechanism

MiiCNY is an open-sourced integrated marketing campaign that encourages all stake-holders—manufacturers, service providers, workers, media and the general public—to engage in and continue to develop and promote the story.

We believe the region’s best days are ahead of it and that we should be defined by our talent, perseverance and ability to thrive. Come help celebrate.

Road Trip. Sandvik Metal Technology Training, Paramus, NJ

February 14-17, 2017
Six Darco employees took time out from the production floor to dive into the theory behind the work they do each day. Sandvik offers a wide range of training that helps workers build on their experience and learn about the principles underlying their hands-on knowledge and skills. Our crew is working with new tools – and some fun toys – in the Sandvik labs and learning machine math, geometry, physics and metallurgy.

They are also getting a chance to experiment with techniques and processes that will boost productivity, cut costs and hone their technical skills. Sandvik offers this training to customers free of charge and Darco was excited to take advantage of the opportunity.

MiiCNY event is a huge success

Event Location

October 6, 2016
Over 250 attendees had a chance to view exhibits by CNY manufacturers when MiiCNY (Making it in Central New York) partnered with SME (Society for Manufacturing Engineers) to celebrate Central New York’s robust manufacturing tradition. The former Dietz Lantern Factory, home of Jacobsen Rugs, was the impressive backdrop to a spirited evening of professional networking along with local food, drink and music. Darco was proud to support the event and encourages everyone to visit MiiCNY’s Facebook page.

The CNY Story
The region lost many production jobs when large manufacturers left the area but we should not be defined by these losses. In CNY we have a remarkably diverse set of skills to offer local and global customers. If they dream it, we can make it here. We have a thriving community of small and mid-size manufacturers, including companies with a long-standing history in the region and those that are making their way here. Many manufacturers have held on, made it, and are tooled up for the next industrial revolution. Combine this with an incomparable quality of life and we believe that the region’s best days are ahead of it.

Let’s be defined by our perseverance and ability to thrive. And let’s talk about how we are making great products—and a good life—in Central New York.
